Del State adjunct receives two humanitarian awards

Dr. Esosa Iriowen, a Del State Adjunct Associate Professor of Chemistry, recently received two humanitarian awards - a Melvin Jones Fellow Award and a Ted Reiver Fellow Award.
Dr. Iriowen, who is also a University alumni, received the award during the Feb. 21 Dover Lions Club Service Award Dinner, which also marked to organization's 75th year of serving the local community.
The Melvin Jones Fellow Award - named in honor of the founder of Lions Clubs International - considered the highest award presented by Lions Clubs International. Nominees are supported by their club for this honor based on their documented service to their community.
Ted Reiver Fellow Award - named after the former Director of the International Association of Lions Club - in recognition for his club leadership in providing eyesight screening for preschoolers in Kent County
Dr. Iriowen currently serves as the President of Dover Lions Club and is active in other community endeavors. He is a faculty advisor for the DSU Interact Club of the Early College High School, University Rotaract Club, Campus Lion's Club, as well as Deeper  Life Bible Church Student Chapter @ DSU. He is board member of the Dover Charter School, and is actively affiliated with a number research and chemistry organizations.
Dr. Iriowen completed a MS in Chemistry in 2010 and a 2015 Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry from Delaware State University.
