Fenwick Appointed to Smithsonian Advisory Board
Leslie T. Fenwick, Ph.D., dean of the School of Education, was appointed to the Scholarly Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC).
The committee helps shape the museum's intellectual agenda, exhibition content and programming.
"As an educator and HBCU community member, I am honored to serve on the Museum's Scholarly Advisory Committee," said Fenwick who is the only SAC member who is a dean at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). "For generations to come, museum visitors will learn about still untold stories of African-American struggle, uplift and contributions to the nation and the world."
The 14-member SAC includes noted civil rights historian Taylor Branch; Dr. Johnetta Cole; Drew S. Days, III; Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon; Dr. Michael Blakely; Dr. Alvia Wardlaw; Dr. Deborah L. Willis; Dr. Clement A. Price; Dr. Richard Powell; Dr. Deborah L. Mack; Rev. Dr. Alfred Moss; Dr. Clement Alexander Price, and Dr. Rex M. Ellis.
NMAAHC will open in 2016, adjacent to the Washington Monument as the nation's pre-eminent museum dedicated to reclaiming and sharing African-American history and culture. To learn more, go to: http://www.nmaahc.si.edu/About.
