2019 Goldwater Scholarship Recipient

We are happy to share Anisha Mittal, class of 2020 Biology major, has won a 2019 Goldwater Scholarship, Fisk University's first Goldwater win.

The Goldwater is widely considered the most prestigious award for undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) students. We have some truly bright students who win many awards but I took a moment to highlight this scholarship because it is monumental for Fisk. You can find more information herehttps://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fconnect.fisk.edu%2fpage.redir%3ftarget%3dhttps%253a%252f%252fgoldwater.scholarsapply.org%252f%26srcid%3d20290%26srctid%3d1%26erid%3d2133151%26trid%3dd22e877d-7c5a-4332-9de5-e64fc8cfec29&c=E,1,ihtLKq0QmKYZ5JilGAacM-aAc1i-9PcXc0VtrQdAgO4AN6qnD2TO10iXkvpSq8KIJhdmUsX5OEztEMViWRZhoiJkOG7MC33rFuR4sUwB&typo=1.

The Portz Interdisciplinary Fellowship Award is awarded to a few Honors students in the nation. Mittal was selected as a $5,000 award winner. The award supports creative and innovative endeavors from students who wish to undertake cross-disciplinary research.

Anisha is a rising senior from Dalton, Georgia majoring in biology with a music minor. Mittal's career goals include pursuing her MD and practicing in underserved areas. She also hopes to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry and conduct biomedical research focused on understanding molecular mechanisms of human diseases, with an eye towards the development of new therapeutics.
