Tuskegee awarded campus improvement grant from The Home Depot
The Home Depot recently announced Tuskegee University as one of the top winners of its 2011 "Retool Your School" Campus Improvement Grant Program, an initiative designed to reinvigorate Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Tuskegee will receive $10,000. This is the second year the institution has been a grant recipient in the program.

Through the Home Depot program, 11 schools will receive $150,000 in grants for on-campus improvements. Others placing in the program: Bethune Cookman University (grand prize winner of $50,000. Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (Tallahassee, Fla.); Howard University (Washington, D.C.); Knoxville College (Knoxville, Tenn.); Mississippi Valley State University (Itta Bena, Miss.); Morris Brown College (Atlanta); North Carolina A&T State University (Greensboro, N.C.); North Carolina Central University (Durham, N.C.); Southwestern Christian College (Terrell, Texas) and Virginia Union University (Richmond, Va.).

The winners were chosen by a combination of public online voting and careful review by a panel of judges that included executives from the United Negro College Fund, the National Association for Equal Opportunity In Higher Education and other relevant agencies.
