Claflin University to Participate in the 2017 Midland Gives day of Giving
Hosted by Central Carolina Community Foundation, Midlands Gives is a 24-hour online giving event that brings the region together as one community, raising money and awareness for local nonprofits in 11 Midlands counties. During Midlands Gives, contributions of just $20 or more are amplified through sponsored prize incentives. Since its inception in 2014 the event has raised over $3.8 million for local nonprofits.
Claflin University has participated in this event since it began in 2014.  This year, all contributions made to the University during the 24-hour event will go to support the FOCUS 100 Scholarship Fund.  Established in 2004 by the Claflin University Board of Visitors, the FOCUS 100 Scholarship Fund provides emergency need-based assistance to students who might otherwise be forced to forfeit attending school due to short-term financial hardships.  Specifically, the FOCUS 100 Scholarship Fund provides $400 to $600 to students to assist with tuition, housing, book stipends, and other unexpected school‑related financial emergencies.  FOCUS 100 stands for Friends of Claflin University Students. The 100 denotes the minimum annual membership contribution that is requested from individuals in support of the fund.
All donations must be at least $20 and are tax-deductible.  Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event and to access the giving link on May 2 click here.https://www.midlandsgives.org/index.php?section=organizations&action=newDonation_org&fwID=88
