Pearson Appointed Chair of CAEP Standards Committee
Dr. Denise Pearson, senior associate dean and professor of education at Winston-Salem State University has been appointed to a 3-year term and will chair the highly selective Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standards Committee.
"I am honored to represent WSSU on this national platform and as chair of the committee, I look forward to leveraging this association to further impact educator preparation in NC and beyond," Pearson said. "This is great news for our historic institution as we forge ahead to create transformative educational experiences for our students and the communities in which our graduates will ultimately serve."
The mission of CAEP is to advance excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning. More than 1000 educator preparation providers participate in the CAEP accreditation system.
The Standards Committee is responsible for periodical standards review, change recommendations, timeline, implementation and standards implementation improvement.
