Cheyney Business Club Gets Down to Business
By Angelitta Anderson

Cheyney University's newest organization, the Cheyney Business Club (CBC), is ready to help you learn how to deal with money. The CBC is part of the Collegiate DECA international Chapter which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in colleges around the globe.
Staring this spring, the CBC would like to show Cheyney students, facutly and staff how to get money and keep it. The CBC will conduct events, workshops, and projects centered on the theme: Show Me the Money: Wealth Accumulation and Management. The workshops will include topics like: résumé building, salary negotiation, budgeting, credit reports, multiple streams of income, and other related topics. All events will feature speakers who are entrepreneurs, bank/credit union representatives, securities professionals, and others experts in the fields of wealth accumulation and money management.
"Students need to think about life after graduation," said Professor Marvin Lawrence, CBC Faculty Advisor. "This club will help prepare them for success after graduation. Our goal is to bring successful people here who can tell us how they did it."
In addition, the CBC will hold an open membership enrollment in January for anyone interested in joining the club. All members must participate in at least one of the following committees:

  • Events & Workshops Committee
  • Social Media & Marketing Committee
  • Fundraising Committee
  • Banquets Committee
  • Succession Committee
CBC Officers are: President, John Cooper; Vice President, Keisha Harris; Treasurer, Julian Dun; Secretary, Tamara Russell.
