Claflin will be NASAP Conference Co-Host

Claflin University will serve as co-host of the 57th annual National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Conference in Columbia from Feb. 8-11.

President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale will be featured in the opening panel discussion of the conference on the topic "Cultivating Student Success: Accountability, Quality Improvements and Excellence in Higher Education."

Tisdale will be joined by South Carolina State University President Dr. George Cooper and Voorhees College President Dr. Cleveland Sellers, who will represent the conference's other co-hosts in the panel discussion.

The panel discussion will start at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Embassy Suites at 200 Stoneridge Drive in Columbia.

The National Association of Student Affairs Professionals is an organization that aims to be on the leading edge of issues and solutions impacting student affairs representatives at historically black colleges and universities.

Denver Malcolm, academic student support coordinator, is representing Claflin as one of the conference's co-chairpersons.

This year's conference will also feature Columbia Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin as the keynote speaker at a luncheon at noon on Thursday, Feb. 10.

Dr. Belle S. Wheelan, president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, will deliver the keynote address at the closing banquet at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11.
