HBCU Library Alliance Membership,
It's time to conduct an election for the Board of Directors. One of the benefits of membership in the HBCU Library Alliance is eligibility to stand for election and to vote for the Board of Directors.
Call for Nominations - HBCU Library Alliance Board

  1.  The HBCU Library Alliance Board of Directors is the governing body of the HBCU Library Alliance and proposes policy for issues brought before the Board. The Board supports the goals of the Alliance and actively provides leadership. Board members serve a three-year term and may be elected to a second sequential term.
    

The HBCU Library Alliance Board is comprised of ten members representing the following institutions:

One (1) 1890's institution
Three (3) at-large institutions
Two (2) private institutions
Two (2) public institutions
One (1) two-year institution
The Past Chair position
2.      The Board meets at least three times each fiscal year, either face-to-face or by electronic format.
3.      The Board list is attached to this communication.
4.      The Responsibilities of Board Member document is also attached to this communication.
Board Positions to be Filled
The HBCU Library Alliance Board is seeking nominations for the following three positions:

One (1) Private - currently held by Cynthia Henderson, Howard University (DC)
One (1) Public - vacated by Jerome Offord, Lincoln University (MO)
One (1) At-Large - currently held by Monika Rhue, Johnson C. Smith University (NC)
The Nominating Committee and Process

I'm chairing the Nominating Committee. Jean Greene, Hinds Community College Utica (MS) and LaVerne McLaughlin, Albany State University (GA), will assist me with this process.
Members who are in good financial standing (current dues paying members) may self-nominate and suggest nominees.

To self-nominate, please forward an e-mail to me containing the following information:

  • A brief bio to include a listing of your Board and/or committee activities
  • A paragraph describing your interest in serving on the HBCU Library Alliance Board of Directors
  • Your fundraising experience.
    To suggest a nominee, please get that director's approval before submitting their name. Also share the Responsibilities of Board Member document with them. Provide their contact information and your brief statement indicating their interest in serving on the HBCU Library Alliance Board of Directors.  The Nominating Committee will contact them for further discussion.
  1.  Forward all nominee information to me at fayoyinm@savannahstate.edu<mailto:fayoyinm@savannahstate.edu> no later than Wednesday, May 20th.
    

The Election Process

  1.  The Nominating Committee will prepare a slate of new Board members.
    
  2.  The election will be conducted electronically beginning on Monday, June 8th and ending on Friday, June 19th.  Current dues paying members will receive an e-ballot with instructions for voting.
    
  3.  Newly elected Board members will be announced to the membership on Monday, June 22nd.
